Introduction:
Have you ever worked for a boss who, despite attending church on Sundays, left you questioning the essence of Christianity? It's not an uncommon sentiment. Many of us have encountered individuals who may not reflect the values they profess to hold dear. But, as we look at the world around us, there are moments that remind us of the beauty, hope, and unwavering faith that our faith represents. One such moment is the awe-inspiring sight of a sunrise.
A New Day, A New Opportunity:
As I gawked at the beauty of a sunrise today, I was reminded of the gift we receive every day - a fresh start, a new opportunity. This gift fills our hearts with gratitude and is a profound reminder of God's mercy, which is new every morning. And my goodness, do we (I) need it!
"For his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." - Lamentations 3:22-23
For us working Christians, this daily spectacle of light breaking through the darkness can symbolize hope, resilience, and unwavering faith. It's a reminder that no matter our challenges, each day is a chance to lead, inspire, and inject love and light into our teams and companies.
The Challenges of Being a Working Christian:
In our professional lives, we often encounter obstacles, deadlines, and stress that can cast shadows on our paths. But just as the sun rises without fail, so does the opportunity to make a positive impact.
"But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you." - Matthew 5:44
However, it's easier said than done. Our egos can often take over, and our best selves, our Christ-like selves, may not show up when facing conflict, challenges, or stressful situations. This is where we need to equip ourselves with the Holy Spirit to ensure that our actions reflect our faith.
Leading with Love and Light:
We can be the beacon of light and hope for our colleagues, lifting them up with encouragement and compassion. We can lead by example, showing kindness and respect, and inspiring our teams to achieve greatness.
"Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." - Matthew 5:16
We are labeled as Christians, and people have their eyes on us. We must armor up daily. When our flaws and weaknesses are on display instead of our love and light, we tarnish the name of Christianity and may turn people away.
God's Mercy and Resilience:
Moreover, by acknowledging God's mercy, we find the strength to overcome setbacks, forgive, and move forward with humility. Through His grace, we can find the resilience to persevere, innovate, and make a real difference in our workplaces and the lives of those around us.
"But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me." - 2 Corinthians 12:9
Conclusion:
Let's approach each day with a heart filled with gratitude, faith, and a commitment to be the best versions of ourselves. Just like the sunrise, we have His power within us, which can bring warmth, light, and positivity into our professional environments. Together, we can create a workplace that reflects the love and mercy of our Creator.
May your day be filled with inspiration, and may your light shine brightly for all to see.
